Kodangal: In a groundbreaking move to improve child nutrition and education, the Nutritional Breakfast Scheme for government school children was inaugurated in Kodangal, Vikarabad District. This ambitious initiative aims to benefit approximately 28,000 students from 312 government schools across Kodangal, Bomraspet, Dudyal, and Doulatabad Mandals in Vikarabad District, as well as Gundumal, Kosgi, Kothapally, and Maddur Mandals in Narayanpet District.
The program’s operations will be supported by a newly constructed Centralized Kitchen at the Agricultural Market Yard in Kodangal. State Cabinet Ministers Damodar Raja Narasimha, D. Sridhar Babu, and Jupally Krishna Rao graced the launch event, along with key dignitaries including Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Prabhuji, President of the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation (HKMCF), and Smt. Michelle Dominica, Head of India CSR and Administrative Services, Viatris.
This initiative represents a collaborative partnership between the Government of Telangana, HKMCF, and corporate sponsors like Viatris and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). The Telangana government allocated 22,000 square feet of space for the state-of-the-art kitchen, while SCCL contributed generously to its construction. Viatris has pledged to fund the breakfasts for 28,000 students for one year.
The kitchen is a technological marvel, capable of cooking rice for 1,000 students in 15 minutes, preparing sambar for 5,000 students within two hours, and producing over 1,000 idlis or 2,000 puris in minutes. The facility also employs advanced waste management systems, including biogas production from organic waste and water purification through an RO plant.
The program focuses on providing hot, nutritious breakfasts to underprivileged children, enhancing their physical health and cognitive development. Speaking at the event, the Hon’ble Ministers emphasized that initiatives like these complement government efforts to improve education and create a healthier society.
Sri Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Prabhuji highlighted HKMCF’s ongoing commitment to combating hunger through programs like Bhojanamruta, Annapurna, and Swasthya Ahara, which collectively serve millions of meals annually. He expressed gratitude to all partners for their contributions, calling this project a significant step towards the vision of a “rising Telangana.”
Smt. Michelle Dominica of Viatris underlined the importance of nutrition in shaping young minds, stating, “A healthy mind lives in a healthy body. It’s our privilege to contribute to the bright futures of these children.”
The launch event concluded on a heartwarming note as dignitaries served breakfast to the schoolchildren, symbolizing unity and shared responsibility for the community’s well-being.
This Nutritional Breakfast Scheme not only addresses child hunger but also strengthens the foundation for quality education in the region, making it a shining example of public-private collaboration for societal upliftment.
