Manapadale Maruti Temple is located in Manapadale village in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. The temple lies near the historic Panhala Fort region, which was an important center during the Maratha period. The surroundings are peaceful and filled with greenery, making it a calm place for worship.
The temple is more than 300 years old. It was established in the 17th century during the time of Samarth Ramdas.
The main deity is Lord Hanuman (Maruti). He is worshipped as Sankat Mochan, the remover of difficulties. Devotees pray here for strength, courage, protection, and success in life.
The temple has a simple and traditional village-style structure. It reflects the Maratha period architecture, focusing more on devotion than grand design. The sanctum houses the Hanuman idol and provides a peaceful atmosphere for prayer.
The temple was established by Samarth Ramdas, who was a spiritual guide and guru of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. During that time, Samarth Ramdas traveled across Maharashtra and installed 11 Maruti temples. He aimed to inspire people with devotion to Lord Rama and also to build physical and mental strength among society. Manapadale is one of these important temples.
The Sthala Purana of Manapadale Maruti Temple is closely connected with the life and mission of Samarth Ramdas, one of the greatest saints of Maharashtra and a devotee of Lord Rama and Hanuman.
In the 17th century, during a time of political instability and social challenges, Samarth Ramdas undertook a spiritual mission across Maharashtra. His aim was not only to spread devotion (bhakti) but also to build physical strength, courage, and discipline among people. He believed that Lord Hanuman (Maruti) symbolized the perfect combination of devotion, strength, and service.
As part of this mission, Samarth Ramdas established a group of 11 Maruti temples (Akra Maruti) in different locations. These temples were not randomly placed; they were strategically chosen in regions where he wanted to inspire and organize society both spiritually and physically.
Manapadale was one such place selected by him. According to traditional accounts followed by devotees and temple authorities, Samarth Ramdas installed the idol of Lord Hanuman here and consecrated it through proper Vedic rituals (prana pratishtha). The installation was meant to create a spiritual center that would guide people towards righteous living, strength, and devotion to Lord Rama.
Unlike mythological legends, this Sthala Purana is based on historical tradition and the life work of Samarth Ramdas. Over time, the temple became known as a “Jagrut Kshetra”, meaning a spiritually active place where devotees feel that prayers are answered.
Many devotees believe that sincere worship here helps in overcoming problems, gaining inner strength, and achieving success. This belief has been strengthened through generations of faith and experience.
Hanuman Jayanti is the main festival celebrated with great devotion, including special prayers and bhajans. Saturdays are also important, and many devotees visit regularly.
