Prayagraj: The Magh Mela to be held in Prayagraj next year is expected to draw about 15 crore pilgrims, and will cover an 800-hectare area, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Saturday after reviewing preparations on the ground.
Adityanath said, “We aim to ensure the Magh Mela is conducted with full grandeur and divinity.”
Key bathing dates begin early this time. The first “snan (holy dip)” of the Magh Mela will be on Paush Purnima on January 3, while the second will be on Makar Sankranti on January 15, he added.
After participating in the programme, the chief minister will proceed directly to the Triveni Sangam.He is scheduled to perform Ganga Puja at 10:30 am at Sangam Nose.
At the scheduled time, the chief minister will perform puja on the banks of the Sangam in the presence of saints and religious leaders. The chief minister will seek blessings from Maa Ganga for the successful conduct of the Magh Mela beginning Jan 3, 2026. After the Ganga Pujan, Yogi will also visit and worship Lord Hanuman at the Bade Hanuman Temple.
Following this, the CM will also conduct a site inspection of Sectors 1, 2, and 3 proposed for the upcoming Magh Mela.
During this period, he will review the routes, security arrangements and facilities for pilgrims. His visit will conclude with a review meeting at the ICCC auditorium, Mela Authority, located at the Parade Ground.
Senior officials from the administration, police, and Prayagraj Mela Authority will be present. Following the meeting, the chief minister will depart for the helipad constructed at the Parade Ground, from where he will reach Bamrauli Airport by helicopter, from where he will depart for his next destination.
