BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy Arrested After Karimnagar Clash

Hyderabad: BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy was arrested near Jubilee Hills checkpost in Hyderabad on Monday, following a heated altercation with Jagtial MLA M Sanjay Kumar during a review meeting in Karimnagar on Sunday. He was reportedly taken to the Karimnagar One Town police station and is expected to be presented before a magistrate.

Kaushik Reddy had participated in a panel discussion at a news channel before being taken into custody by Karimnagar police, assisted by Jubilee Hills officers.

Sources indicate that senior BRS leaders and the party’s legal team have rushed to Karimnagar in response. Police are reportedly preparing measures to prevent confrontations at the station.

The clash occurred when Kaushik Reddy interrupted Sanjay Kumar’s speech, demanding he declare his political affiliation. Sanjay Kumar, elected on a BRS ticket but now aligned with Congress, denied formally switching parties despite participating in Congress activities.

The argument escalated into a physical scuffle, prompting police intervention. Based on complaints from Congress leaders and Karimnagar RDO Maheshwar Reddy, three cases have been filed against Kaushik Reddy, including charges of aggressive behavior and creating a disturbance.
