BJP Slams Opposition’s Hypocrisy Over Probe into Terror Links

Hyderabad: The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday came down heavily on the Opposition—particularly the Congress and its allies, along with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM)—for their baseless allegations that investigative agencies were “targeting Muslims” in recent terror-related probes.

Calling the Opposition’s charge “absurd and irresponsible,” BJP State Chief Spokesperson N.V. Subash said: “If agencies have detained practicing doctors with links to Pulwama and Haryana’s Al Falah University for questioning, how is that communal profiling? For senior Congress leader and former Home Minister P. Chidambaram to accuse the government of failure is not only bizarre but reeks of political opportunism.

The Congress should first introspect on its own record—particularly its handling of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks—before pointing fingers.”
Subash also took strong exception to AIMIM representatives who, during a television debate, accused the government of maligning an entire community.

“Neither Prime Minister Modi’s government nor any probe agency has blamed an entire community. The fact that several recent arrests involve individuals from a particular faith is purely coincidental and based on evidence, not bias. Instead of deflecting blame, the Muslim community’s intellectuals and professionals must introspect on why some among them are drawn to extremist ideologies,” he said.

Reiterating the BJP-led Central government’s inclusive philosophy, Subash said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” guides every policy decision.

“Our government has ensured that every citizen—irrespective of religion—benefits from Central welfare schemes. There has never been discrimination against any community. But it is time for every patriotic Indian Muslim to question why a few misguided elements tarnish the image of the entire community,” Subash added.

The BJP chief spokesperson concluded that the Opposition’s attempt to communalize national security issues only exposes its “selective outrage and political bankruptcy,” and reaffirmed that the Modi government remains firm in its resolve to protect the nation’s integrity without fear or favour.
