Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP strongly condemns the offensive and unwarranted remarks made by TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a democratically elected leader serving his third consecutive term with the overwhelming mandate of the Indian people.
BJP spokesperson N.V. Subash criticized Ghose’s comments, calling them a blatant display of intolerance and an attempt to provoke controversy. Her description of the Prime Minister as suffering from a “mental disease” and her insinuations about his psychological state reflect a shocking lack of respect for democratic institutions and public discourse.
“It is deeply troubling to witness such uncharitable and baseless attacks from a parliamentarian who was once a journalist. Ghose’s remarks reveal the same divisive and fact-twisting tendencies associated with her so-called ‘toolkit gang,’” said Subash.
Referring to Ghose’s statements on social media, Subash argued that such rhetoric only exposes her own desperation for relevance. He also questioned whether she is attempting to outshine her party leader, Mamata Banerjee, in launching personal attacks on the Prime Minister.
“Opposition leaders like Sagarika Ghose fail to realize that abusing Prime Minister Modi will not win them public support. Instead, it exposes their inability to engage in constructive dialogue. Modi enjoys the love and trust of 140 crore Indians, as repeatedly affirmed through election victories,” Subash stated.
He further noted that Ghose’s continued hostility reflects poorly on her credibility, both as a journalist and as a politician. Subash also reminded her of past instances where similar anti-Modi rhetoric faced public backlash, including an incident involving her husband in Times Square at US.
The BJP urges Sagarika Ghose and other opposition leaders to focus on meaningful contributions to national discourse instead of resorting to personal attacks. Such behavior is detrimental to the values of democracy and civil debate.
