Hyderabad: The Telangana State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday strongly condemned the irresponsible and misleading remarks made by Hyderabad MP and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi regarding India’s foreign policy and its engagement with the United States.
Reacting to Owaisi’s statement questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s response to comments attributed to former US President Donald Trump on trade and tariffs, the BJP termed the remarks as “bizarre, ill-informed, and politically motivated.”
Owaisi had sought to provoke public debate by suggesting that India had failed to respond adequately to what he described as “coercive statements” by the US leadership, while questioning why the Prime Minister had chosen restraint despite repeated claims and threats.
Responding sharply, Telangana BJP Chief Spokesperson N.V. Subash said that such comments reflected a lack of understanding of diplomatic protocols and international statecraft.
“It is unfortunate that a senior parliamentarian chooses to make reckless statements despite being fully aware that matters of foreign policy are handled through established diplomatic channels,” Subash said. “India’s position on trade and international relations has been clearly articulated by the concerned ministries, particularly by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, on multiple occasions.”
He further stated that responsible governance does not function on provocation or public grandstanding. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi leads with maturity and strategic clarity. He knows when to speak, how to speak, and through which forum. International diplomacy cannot be reduced to impulsive reactions or political theatrics,” Subash added.
The BJP reiterated that India today commands global respect and engages with world powers from a position of confidence and strength, guided by national interest—not by pressure or political noise.
