Suresh Chandra ‘Sarvhara’
Born in Haryana in 1989, Dr. Satyawan Saurabh is a well-known name in children’s literature. Writer, journalist, and translator, Dr. Satyawan Saurabh, has created a lot of literature for children as well as adults. Along with children’s poetry books, he has made a significant contribution to Hindi literature by creating many works of couplets, stories, poems, translations, adaptations, and editing in adult literature. He has been enriching literature by writing independently for the last twenty years.
Bal Pragyan is a beautiful collection of children’s poems by children’s literature writer Dr. Satyavan Saurabh Ji. All the works of the poet are by child psychology and beautifully analyze the minds of children. Children love to get wet in the rainwater. They forget all the heat of summer and dance in the drizzle of rain. In the poem ‘Rimjhim-Rimjhim Barish Aayi’, the poet expresses this relationship of children with rain and says,
“The winds blew, making a whistling sound.
Everyone’s body and mind are dancing.
The clouds sing lovely songs.
The children made noise together.
Animals and fields were happy.
The birds spread their wings.”
In the first poem of this collection of children’s poems, ‘Bane Santan Aadarsh Hamari’, the poet has beautifully depicted the child of any parents. Coming down to the level of the child’s mind, the poet has expressed the feeling in a natural way and said,
“Let our children become ideal; I will teach them those things.
I am thinking of telling you about the appearance and qualities of the child who comes.
The hair should be curly, the body should be well-built, and the gait and demeanor should be sharp.
May the mind be cool like the moon and the energy of the sun be like that of the sun.
I like your eyes; I will tell you what’s in my heart.
I will teach our children those things.”
‘Nani’ is a long poem in this collection in which a realistic and attractive description of childish mischiefs has been given. Children play around in the house and create a mess. When someone stops them, they feel annoyed. The poet has said in support of this naughtiness of children:
“I want to go out.
I want to have fun with everyone.
I will play, run with everyone,
Should I use two hands in wrestling?
I’ll go and swim to my heart’s content,
If you catch me, I won’t be caught.
Childhood only wants fun,
I will tell this to everyone.
Nani-Nani, tell Mummy,
Drive away this bondage.
All of us children must leave the house,
Play and have fun.”
It is clear from the examples of the above poems of the children’s poetry collection ‘Bal Prajna’ that the poet Dr. Satyavan Saurabh is a skilled connoisseur of children’s minds. He knows the subjects that appeal to children as well as the subjects that are useful for them. His child mind enjoys a lot with children. The remaining compositions of the collection also attract children’s minds. These poems, while considering various aspects of life from a positive point of view, work to inculcate values in children. In the poem ‘Man ko bhaata hai computer’, the importance of computers is described through computers, and it has been called priceless. The poem ‘Titli Rani’ throws light on the importance of birds in modern times. The composition ‘Hariyali tum aane do’ is based on the joy of children liking trees and plants in childhood. ‘Dada-Dadi’ is a Bal Sajal in which the curiosity of children to go to their grandmother’s house has been expressed. In grandmother’s house, children get the love of grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
The poem ‘Do all the preparations for school’ expresses the enthusiasm of children to go to school. In the poem ‘Kitne Sare Aam’, the raw and ripe mangoes hanging on the tree attract children. The qualities of vegetables have been described in the poem ‘Sehat Ka Khazana’. The poem ‘Police Hamare Desh Ki’ brings the feeling of patriotism in children. The poem ‘Sada Tiranga Yun Lahraye’ gives the message to children to make their lives successful by adopting good things. In the poem ‘Chithi’, concern is expressed over not writing letters in today’s time. Due to not getting letters, the postman is also seen only once in a long time.
The poem ‘Gilhari’ has a vivid description of a squirrel while children are having a picnic in the park on a holiday. The poem ‘Pyaari Chidiya Rani’ has a poignant depiction of the danger faced by wildlife due to deforestation by humans. The poem ‘Dudhwala’ has a poignant picture; the poem ‘Phoolon Ki Sikh’ has interesting and informative information. The poem ‘Chanda Mama’ depicts the lessons that children get from the moon during their childhood amidst the mingling stars. The poem ‘Ritu Basant Hai Aayi’ depicts the beauty of nature during the spring season. The poem ‘Aa Ri Aa, Ori Gauraiya’ depicts the love of children for the small sparrow bird. The poem ‘Poosi-Mausi, Mariyal-Monkey’ gives the message of living together through the friendship of Pussi the cat, Mariyal Monkey, and Lalu the dog. In the poem ‘Rang-Birangi’, a child asks Dadu to buy a pichkari so that he can play Holi merrily with his friends. This poem reveals the enthusiasm of children towards festivals.
All the poems of the children’s poetry collection ‘Bal Prajna’ are based on the original and realistic thinking of the poet, which provides children with important information about the environment around them. While these poems introduce the urban lifestyle of today’s children, they also introduce the poet’s love for nature. These poems are poems of modern sentiments, which mentally prepare children to face the changing circumstances. The language of these poems is the spoken language of educated families, in which a mixed use of Hindi and English words is made. These poems highlight the topics related to children with sensitivity and positive thinking. The poet has touched contemporary topics with the tenderness of a child’s mind. These poems, which communicate with children, not only provide entertainment to the child’s mind but also inspire them to think healthily. Hearty congratulations to the poet Dr. Satyavan Saurabh ji for creating the beautiful work ‘Bal Prajna’ for children.
