Arji Wale Hanuman Mandir is situated in the holy city of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Hanuman, the divine servant of Lord Rama and the symbol of devotion, strength, and faith. The temple is popularly known as “Arji Wale Hanuman”, meaning “Hanuman Who Grants Petitions.” Devotees believe that if they submit their heartfelt arji (request or prayer) to Lord Hanuman here, He listens and fulfills their wishes. Thousands of devotees come here regularly with folded petitions, and many stories of miraculous fulfillment have been passed down for generations.
The temple follows a simple yet traditional Central Indian style, focusing on devotion rather than grandeur. The sanctum (garbhagriha) houses the main idol of Hanuman Ji, usually adorned with sindoor and oil, as is customary in Hanuman temples. The walls carry devotional paintings and engravings related to the Ramayana and Hanuman’s heroic deeds. The temple complex is well-maintained and surrounded by a calm spiritual atmosphere that fills devotees with peace and energy.
The temple is believed to be very old and has been a center of Hanuman worship for several centuries. The temple’s origin is rooted in local devotion rather than royal patronage. Over time, the site became famous as people’s “prayers and petitions” (Arij) were said to have been answered here. The Narayan Seva Trust now oversees its upkeep and rituals, ensuring its sacred legacy continues.
According to local legend, long ago, a devotee in distress prayed sincerely to Lord Hanuman here and made a written Arij asking for divine help. Within a few days, his problems were miraculously solved. Since then, devotees started the tradition of submitting arjis — small written petitions or verbal prayers — to Lord Hanuman at this very place. It is said that Lord Hanuman, the eternal servant of Rama, listens to every true devotee’s prayer here and removes their difficulties. This strong belief has made the temple a sacred destination for those seeking divine intervention in their lives.
The temple witnesses’ huge crowds on Tuesdays and Saturdays, which are considered auspicious for Hanuman worship. On these days, devotees perform Hanuman Chalisa Path, offer bond prasad, and light mustard oil lamps before the deity. The grandest celebration here is Hanuman Jayanti, when the temple is beautifully decorated, special abhishek and Sundarkand path are performed, and thousands of devotees visit from all over the region. Regular rituals like Rudrabhishek, Annadaan, and Bhandara (community meal) are organized by the Narayan Seva Trust.
Arji Wale Hanuman Mandir is regarded as a wish-fulfilling temple. Devotees come here to seek relief from troubles such as illness, family issues, career obstacles, and mental distress. It is said that Hanuman Ji, when worshipped here with true devotion, removes all forms of sorrow and brings courage and stability into the lives of his devotees.
