Sant Dev Mamledar Yashwantrao Maharaj Temple

Sant Dev Mamledar Yashwantrao Maharaj Temple is located at Satana near Nashik-Maharastra. Sant Dev Mamledar Yashwantrao Maharaj was a great saint during the 18th century. He was also an important disciple of Swami Samarth and is believed to have had darshan of Bhagwan Vishnu.

A beautiful Samadhi temple was built by his devotees near Nasik on the banks of the Godavari river.

Shri Yashwant Rao Maharaj was born on September 13, 1815, at Omkar Wada in Pune, in a family originally from Bhosale, Pandharpur, Solapur district. He belonged to the Kashyap gotra of the Ashwalayan branch of Brahmins, and his family had a long tradition of serving Lord Dattaguru. Shri Yashwant Maharaj worshiped and served Swami Samarth. He was also known as Parama Poojya Dev Mamledar, a great saint of the 18th century.

Shri Yashwant Rao Maharaj was known for dedicating his life to helping the poor, helpless women, children, and those suffering from illness. He treated all these people as his own family. From 1829 to 1872, he worked in various positions in the Revenue Department for 43 years across different parts of Maharashtra.

In 1870-71, Maharashtra faced a severe famine. People and animals were dying due to hunger. At that time, Shri Yashwant Maharaj was the Taluka Tehsildar in Balgan. He sold all his property and distributed the money to the poor.

However, given the scale of the famine, the amount he raised was still insufficient. Dev Mamledar, the Taluka Mamledar, noticed this situation and distributed a large sum of money from the government treasury to the poor. This amount was 127,000 rupees, which was a significant sum at the time.

When his superiors came to check, they found that the entire amount was accounted for in the treasury without any discrepancies. This event was considered a miracle, and Lord Vishnu is believed to have appeared before Yashwant Maharaj. The people of Balgan, who had seen his dedication during the famine, considered him divine, and from then on, he was known as Yashwant Maharaj Dev Mamledar.

It is believed that during his life, he performed many divine acts. One night, Shri Swami Samarth appeared in the dream of Shri Dev Mamledar and gave him a small “Shaligram”. When Dev Mamledar woke up the next morning, he found the same Shaligram in the temple at his home. This Shaligram is still kept in the house and devotees visit and have the darshan.

Shri Dev Mamledar attained Mahasamadhi on December 27, 1887, at Satana. This day, the 11th of Margashirsha Krishna, is celebrated as his memorial. His Samadhi is located near Nashik, in Satana, where a large annual celebration is held.

When Shri Dev Mamledar was cremated, the next day, people found a large Shiv Linga at the same spot. This Shiv Linga is also kept in the house.

Even today, thousands of devotees visit his Samadhi from all over Maharashtra. The celebration lasts for 15 days, and devotees believe that by receiving his blessings, all their desires are fulfilled. Satana was his home, and a beautiful temple dedicated to him stands there. Devotees are encouraged to visit this sacred place and receive blessings from Shri Yashwant Maharaj.
