India ready to provide all possible cooperation to find peaceful resolution to Russia-Ukraine conflict: PM Modi

Kazan: The Russia-Ukraine conflict should be resolved in a peaceful manner and India is ready to provide all possible cooperation towards it, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday during his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Modi held bilateral talks with Putin hours after arriving in this central Russian city to attend the 16th BRICS summit.

In his televised opening remarks, the prime minister conveyed to the Russian leader that New Delhi “fully supports” the early return of peace and stability in the region.

“I have been in constant touch with you on the subject of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. As I have said earlier, we believe that the problems should be resolved peacefully. We fully support the early establishment of peace and stability. All our efforts give priority to humanity. India is ready to provide all possible cooperation in the times to come,” PM Modi said.

Besides Putin, the Prime Minister is likely to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as hold bilateral talks with leaders from the other Brics member nations.

The summit comes in the wake of ongoing global unrest, including the Russia-Ukraine war and the Middle East crisis.

“The issue has been discussed and spoken about. India has consistently held the view that the concerned parties need to engage and find resolution to the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy,” he said.
