Foxconn’s Young Liu meets CM Revanth, commends visionary approach

New Delhi: Foxconn Chairman Young Liu has recognized Hyderabad as a city brimming with potential for expansion across various sectors, including both industrial and service domains. During a meeting with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at his official residence in Delhi on Friday, Liu highlighted the city’s strong prospects for future growth and announced plans to visit Hyderabad with his team in the near future.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy provided a comprehensive overview of Hyderabad’s rich history, industrial potential, and favorable climatic conditions. He emphasized that Hyderabad’s industrial growth has been steady and resilient, unaffected by changes in government leadership. The Chief Minister also elaborated on the phased development of three key areas within Hyderabad, rooted in a legacy that spans over 430 years.

Further, the Chief Minister discussed the development of the Fourth City, a visionary project aimed at driving multifaceted growth in sectors such as education, life sciences, medicine, sports, electronics, electrical industries, and skill development. A key component of this initiative is the establishment of the Young India Skill University on the outskirts of Hyderabad, designed to equip the youth with modern industry skills. The syllabus for this university is being crafted with inputs from leading industrialists, ensuring that the curriculum is aligned with industry needs. Notably, industrial stalwart Anand Mahindra has been appointed as the chairman of Skill University, while another prominent industrialist, Srinivasa Raju, has taken on the role of vice chairman.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted Hyderabad’s strategic advantages, including its International Airport, Outer Ring Road (ORR), and the upcoming Regional Ring Road (RRR), as he assured Foxconn of full support for establishing their operations in the Fourth City. The Chief Minister extended an invitation to Foxconn to invest in this ambitious project.

State IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu also briefed Young Liu on the government’s pro-industrial policies, incentives, and international collaborations designed to enhance industrial development. He detailed the proactive steps taken by the government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, including incentives and the successful discussions and agreements secured during recent visits to the USA and South Korea.

Young Liu expressed admiration for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s visionary leadership and pro-industrial policies, particularly in relation to the Fourth City project. Liu announced plans for an initial visit to Hyderabad by a team led by Chief Campus Operations Officer Kathy Yang and India representative V. Lee, followed by his own visit. He conveyed his eagerness to explore investment opportunities in Hyderabad, commending the Chief Minister’s vision for the city’s industrial future.

The meeting, which featured several high-ranking officials from both the Telangana government and Foxconn, marked the beginning of what could be a significant partnership for Hyderabad’s industrial development. Attendees included Telangana’s Principal Secretary (IT, Electronics, and Communications) Jayesh Ranjan, Special Secretary for Investment Promotion and External Engagement Dr. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, Chief Minister’s Special Secretary Ajith Reddy, and Electronics, Semiconductors, and Energy Storage Director Dr. SK Sharma. From the Foxconn side, President of SBG Bob Chen, CBG GM JH Wu, Chief Campus Operations Officer Kathy Yang, CSBG Deputy GM Hsu Shou-kuo, C-Group Manager Simon Song, and Foxconn’s India representative V. Lee were present.
