CM Revanth Reddy Pushes Caste Census

New Delhi: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted the significance of a nationwide caste census, calling it the third wave of social justice under Congress leadership. Speaking at the ‘Samvidhan Rakshak Abhiyan’ meeting in Talkatora Stadium on Constitution Day, the CM outlined the party’s commitment to social equity.

Revanth Reddy described the first phase of social justice as reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) and the nationalization of banks under the leadership of Nehru and Indira Gandhi. The second phase, he said, involved lowering the voting age to 18 and implementing the Mandal Commission under Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure.

He emphasized that the third phase began with the launch of the caste census under the guidance of Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi. Telangana has followed suit with extensive social, economic, and caste surveys, completing 92% of the process, the CM reported.

Revanth Reddy underscored the principle of “Jitani Bhagi Dari, Utani Hisse Dari” (proportional representation based on population) as a cornerstone of this movement. He pledged to advance this agenda once the caste survey in Telangana is finalized.

The CM accused the BJP-led government of endangering the Constitution over the past decade and credited Rahul Gandhi’s campaigns for rallying public resistance. He claimed the recent Wayanad and Nanded by-election results, along with limited victories for BJP in Maharashtra and Congress’s gains in Jharkhand, demonstrated public discontent with the Modi administration.

Revanth Reddy framed the current political struggle as a battle between defenders and adversaries of the Constitution. He called for nationwide support, accusing the Modi government and the Sangh Parivar of attempting to alter constitutional values. “The Mahatma Gandhi family is fighting to protect the Constitution, while the Sangh Parivar is trying to undermine it,” he charged.

The meeting, organized by the Congress Party, marked a rallying cry for unity in defending the Constitution and promoting social justice.
