The temple, which is over 100 years old was built at this specific spot because the area was historically known as a “Chopla” or communal gathering place, where local people used to meet for social discussions, trade, and daily activities. Since this place was already the center of the old market, devotees felt the need for a sacred space right where daily life unfolded. By building the temple here, it became a spiritual center for the entire community.
The main deity of the temple is Lord Hanuman, worshipped in a south-facing (Dakshinamukhi) form. Because of this, the temple is also known as “Shri Dakshinamukhi Chopla Hanuman Temple.”

Chopla Hanuman Temple was built in memory of his respected father, Late Lala Ramjidas Kabuli. He wanted to honor his father’s life and virtues through a lasting act of devotion. At the same time, the temple was meant to serve the local community, as it was built in a busy market area where people could easily gather, pray, and seek blessings from Lord Hanuman, especially the south-facing form considered powerful for protection and strength. Thus, the temple stands as both a memorial and a spiritual center for devotees.
The construction was carried out under the guidance of Babu Shankar Lal, a municipal member of Ghaziabad at the time. About 80 years later, the temple was renovated with the inspiration of Shri Mahant Narayan Giri Ji Maharaj, completed by Lala Murari Lal Ji and the family of Lala Raghuchir Saran, preserving its heritage and spiritual value.
The temple celebrates all major Hindu festivals, with Hanuman Jayanti and Ram Navami being the most important. During these festivals, the temple is decorated with flowers and lights, special poojas are performed, and devotees gather in large numbers. Regular bhajans and religious events are held throughout the year.
Worshipping the south-facing Hanuman here is believed to remove fears, protect from negative energies, bring peace, and grant strength and courage.
