Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka Temple is located in Chamarru village in Achampet Mandal, in the Palnadu region (earlier Guntur district) of Andhra Pradesh. The temple stands close to the banks of the sacred Krishna River, surrounded by peaceful greenery and village fields.
The presiding deity is Lord Ganesha, worshipped as Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka. He is believed to be a wish-fulfilling and obstacle-removing deity. Devotees lovingly call him “Swami “.
The temple is believed to be very ancient, because the idol of Lord Vinayaka here is considered Swayambhu (self-manifested) — meaning it appeared naturally and was not carved by humans. Over time, a temple structure was built around this holy idol. The temple was renovated in 2014, which restored the premises and revived the ancient traditions. Near the temple, there is also an old stone pillar believed to belong to the Kakatiya period, showing that this place has held spiritual importance for centuries.
The temple architecture is simple, traditional, and peaceful — reflecting the village surroundings. The sanctum houses the sacred Swayambhu idol of Lord Vinayaka. During the renovation, the temple complex was improved with proper pathways, mandapams, and shrines for other deities. The ancient victory pillar (Vijaya Stambha) near the temple adds a historical and spiritual charm to the premises.
Long ago, a great saint was performing deep penance on the banks of the Krishna River near Chamarru village. During his meditation, he experienced a divine vision and discovered a natural, self-manifested idol of Lord Vinayaka at the spot. Realizing the sacredness of the idol, the saint began worshipping it with devotion. Slowly, the villagers came to know about the presence of Lord Vinayaka there and began offering prayers.

Over many years, people started experiencing miracles and blessings after praying at this holy place. Those who were facing obstacles in life, delays in good events, problems in marriage, financial struggles, or family disturbances — all felt great relief after worshipping Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka. Because of this, the Lord here came to be known as Varasiddhi Vinayaka — the Ganesha who grants boons and fulfils wishes.
A unique tradition developed here — devotees began offering Appam prasadam to the Lord. It is believed that anyone who offers appam with full faith receives peace and harmony in married life. Even today, during weddings, families specially visit this temple to make this offering.
Another important belief is that people suffering from Kuja Dosha (Mangal Dosha) receive great relief by worshipping here. Many Sankatahara Chaturthi homams and special rituals have been conducted here — including 101 powerful homams — for the welfare of devotees. Because of all these faiths and miracles, Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka of Chamarru has become a deeply trusted and much-loved deity in this region.
The grandest celebration at the temple is the annual Brahmotsavam, which is held with great devotion and joy. This festival usually lasts three days, with special pujas, homams, cultural activities, and annadanam for devotees. Thousands of people gather during this time, creating a vibrant spiritual atmosphere.
Another major celebration is Ganapati Kalyanam, the ceremonial wedding of Lord Ganesha. Sankatahara Chaturthi is also observed regularly, attracting large crowds of worshippers seeking relief from problems.
