In a nation built on the ideals of justice, accountability, and Dharma, it is both unwise and unjust to extend public welfare benefits to individuals who disrupt peace and endanger lives.
It is a disturbing reality that those involved in violence, arson, harassment of women, and attacks on police or armed forces continue to receive full government support—from free rations and gas subsidies to Ayushman Bharat health cards, housing under PMAY, Kisan Samman Nidhi, electricity waivers, and even eligibility for government jobs and voting rights.
This practice defies logic, undermines the spirit of the Constitution, and betrays the silent, law-abiding majority.
Public Welfare: A Reward, Not an Entitlement Without Responsibility
Welfare schemes are meant to uplift the vulnerable and deserving—not to subsidize those who willfully violate the law and cause public harm. Funding such individuals at the cost of honest taxpayers is not only unfair but dangerously demoralizing.
The Consequences of Rewarding Lawlessness
- It Encourages Repeat Offenses
When there are no real consequences—social, economic, or legal—lawlessness becomes a lifestyle. Rioters, molesters, and stone-pelters act with impunity, knowing their families will still be protected and provided for. - It Undermines National Security
Security forces risk their lives to maintain order, only to see their attackers sheltered and fed by the same government they serve. This erodes morale and weakens the authority of law enforcement. - It Breeds Public Resentment
When law-abiding citizens struggle to access basic services while those who disrupt peace enjoy full benefits, public trust in governance collapses. - It Violates the Principle of Justice
Justice must be proportionate, visible, and corrective. A government that turns a blind eye to criminal conduct while continuing handouts appears complicit in encouraging such behavior.
The Path of Dharma: A Call for Policy Reform
- Immediate Disqualification from Government Schemes
Individuals proven to be involved in riots, violence, or attacks on public servants must be barred—temporarily or permanently—from all welfare schemes and government services. - Parental Accountability for Juvenile Offenders
Parents or guardians of minors involved in riots or organized crime should be held accountable. They, too, may face temporary disqualification from government welfare. - Creation of a Transparent Digital Registry
A public registry of individuals debarred for anti-social behavior can help prevent misuse and block future eligibility until genuine reform is demonstrated. - Due Process and Appeal Mechanisms
Legal safeguards and appeal mechanisms must be in place to prevent misuse or false accusations. However, Dharma demands that wrongdoing brings consequences—not excuses.
It is time to correct a dangerous imbalance. Supporting lawbreakers with taxpayer-funded welfare insults justice and emboldens injustice. Public schemes must be reserved for those who uphold the law, not those who threaten it.
This is not about revenge—it is about restoration. Not punishment—but proportionate deterrence. Only when the State firmly declares that those who violate Dharma will not enjoy the fruits of governance can we truly claim to stand for justice.
