(Ravvalakonda, Banaganapalle – Kurnool District)
Chenchu Lakshmi Sametha Pavana Narasimha Swamy Temple is located at Ravvalakonda near Banaganapalle in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. The temple is set amidst a peaceful rural landscape with small hills and forest surroundings. The calm atmosphere of the place perfectly reflects the soothing and protective form of Lord Narasimha worshipped here.
The presiding deity is Lord Pavana Narasimha Swamy, worshipped together with Chenchu Lakshmi. In this temple, Lord Narasimha is not in his fierce Ugra form but in a shanta (peaceful) form, blessing devotees with protection, courage, and relief from fear. Chenchu Lakshmi, the tribal form of Goddess Lakshmi, stands beside the Lord, symbolising humility, devotion, and harmony with nature.
The temple follows simple South Indian temple architecture, in harmony with its rural surroundings. Though not grand in size, the sanctum has a strong spiritual presence. The idols of Pavana Narasimha Swamy and Chenchu Lakshmi radiate serenity, and devotees often experience mental peace and inner strength after darshan.
According to Vaishnava tradition and oral belief, after slaying the demon Hiranyakashipu, Lord Narasimha’s anger did not subside easily. The entire universe trembled under his fierce energy, and even the Devas were unable to approach him. It was then that Chenchu Lakshmi, symbolising a life of simplicity and pure devotion, approached the Lord without fear, filled only with love and surrender.

Living in the forests surrounding Ahobilam, Chenchu Lakshmi served Lord Narasimha with deep bhakti, offering fruits, water, and sincere prayers. Her pure heart and selfless service gradually calmed the Lord’s intense rage. Pleased with her devotion, Lord Narasimha accepted her as his divine consort. After this sacred union, the Lord assumed a peaceful and benevolent form, which came to be known as Pavana Narasimha Swamy — the Lord who purifies and protects.
It is believed that the spiritual energy of this divine transformation spread to nearby regions, and Ravvalakonda is regarded as one such blessed place where Pavana Narasimha Swamy is worshipped along with Chenchu Lakshmi. The temple stands as a reminder that true devotion, humility, and simplicity can soften even the fiercest divine form.
The worship of Chenchu Lakshmi Sametha Pavana Narasimha Swamy is a sacred tradition deeply rooted in Ahobilam Narasimha worship, where this divine union is spiritually established. The Banaganapalle kshetra is believed to share this same spiritual current, and hence the Lord is worshipped here in his calm and protective form along with Chenchu Lakshmi.
This temple is especially revered for prayers related to fear removal, protection, and mental peace. Important days include Narasimha Jayanti, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Ekadasi days, and Saturdays. Devotees offer archana, coconuts, fruits, and special poojas with deep faith.
