In its ruling, the court instructed the police to transfer all relevant documents to the CBI by 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Additionally, the High Court urged striking doctors to end their protest, emphasizing their “sacred duty” to return to work.
The National Human Rights Commission has also taken suo motu cognizance of the incident, adding to the gravity of the situation.
Earlier in the day, the court questioned why the case was not immediately registered as a murder investigation, pointing out that an unnatural death case was initially pursued instead. The division bench, led by the Chief Justice, noted that the doctor’s body was found within the hospital premises, and questioned why the hospital’s superintendent or principal did not file a complaint.
The junior doctor’s body, found in the seminar hall on Friday morning, led to the arrest of a civic volunteer on Saturday in connection with the case.
The deceased doctor’s parents petitioned the High Court for a court-monitored investigation, and multiple PILs were filed, demanding a CBI probe into the matter.
