8 workers killed in firecracker unit explosion in TN’s Sivakasi

Chennai: In a heartbreaking event, an explosion at a cracker unit tragically took the lives of at least eight workers, including five women, and left ten others injured in Sengamalapatti near Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu.

The incident occurred during the evening while the manufacturing process of crackers was underway, resulting in the destruction of nearly seven rooms due to fire. Prompt action by Fire and Rescue Service personnel helped to contain the fire. The injured individuals were swiftly taken to the Government Hospital in Sivakasi for medical attention. Sivakasi East Police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, with further inquiries underway.

CM MK Stalin conveyed his deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and assured that the government would provide necessary financial aid, pending approval from the Election Commission of India.
