US Meddling: A Desperate Attempt to Destabilize India?

Latest whispers on social media, unconfirmed by India’s Union Home Ministry, suggest an unsettling pattern: the United States may be attempting to destabilize India, similar to what it allegedly did in Bangladesh. While these reports lack official validation, they highlight a growing suspicion—one that cannot be dismissed lightly in today’s geopolitical climate. According to these claims, a group of farmer leaders from Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh secretly visited the US Embassy in New Delhi late one night, spending nearly two hours there. Indian intelligence officials, reportedly aware of this midnight rendezvous, allowed the meeting to proceed, only to later follow the participants to a farmhouse in Chattarpur. The details of what transpired at the embassy remain unclear. However, the fact that India’s National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, is believed to have contacted his US counterpart with a stern warning against such attempts speaks volumes about the gravity of the situation. This covert meeting raises a pertinent question: why is the US so invested in India’s internal politics? Given its track record, there is ample reason to suspect American interference. The Modi government’s recent agricultural reforms, which were met with fierce resistance and prolonged protests by farmers, were not purely organic movements. Allegations abound that Western NGOs and entities like George Soros, wary of India’s rising economic clout, funded these protests. The timing, just as India’s economy is set to grow at a robust 7%, while the so-called superpowers like the US and China lag behind at 3-4%, is suspicious at best.

Moreover, India is gaining prominence as a global mediator in conflicts ranging from Russia-Ukraine to Israel-Gaza. This burgeoning influence appears to have unsettled several global players, particularly the US. Is this why the Biden administration, perhaps feeling threatened by India’s growing global role and internal stability under the Modi regime, is allegedly resorting to such “dirty games”? India has made clear its position on various global issues, even standing firm in the Russia-Ukraine conflict and resisting US pressure. China, another global heavyweight with expansionist aspirations, has failed to achieve its desired outcomes through direct confrontations along India’s borders. Now, reports suggest that it is engaging in proxy wars in Indian bordering state Manipur likely its ally, Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir, where elections are scheduled. Against this backdrop, American interference only complicates an already volatile situation. This raises concerns about whether the US is genuinely interested in fostering ties with India or if it is only seeking to leverage internal divisions to its advantage. While the Union Home Ministry’s silence on the alleged midnight embassy meeting may be guided by diplomatic considerations, transparency is crucial. If this incident did occur, a clear statement is needed—either confirming or denying it. Silence only fuels rumours and conspiracies, undermining public trust.

Further, if there is any truth to these allegations, the Indian diaspora, particularly Indian-Americans, should take a stand in the upcoming US elections. Both the Democratic and Republican parties must be held accountable for their foreign policies, especially when those policies impact their motherland’s sovereignty and stability. As the World Bank and other institutions reaffirm India’s unstoppable economic growth trajectory, Indian-Americans have the power to influence US policies in a direction that respects India’s rise rather than attempting to derail it. It’s time for India to assert itself. Instead of being caught in a web of foreign manipulations, India must forge stronger alliances with nations like Russia and China, countering any efforts to destabilize its sovereignty. With leaders like Prime Minister Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and NSA Ajit Doval, India is not merely a pawn on the global chessboard but a formidable player. The United States must realize that any attempts to destabilize India will only backfire. India’s democracy, its economic potential, and its strategic importance are too significant to be undermined by outdated Cold War tactics. If the US fails to recognize this and continues to play these “dirty games,” it risks not only its standing with India but also its credibility as a global leader advocating for democracy and stability. In other words, India stands at a crossroads—one that demands both vigilance and assertiveness. The days of foreign interference must end, and India must continue to rise on its terms, unyielding to any external pressure or manipulation.
