Hyderabad: The State BJP on Thursday took strong exception to the “irresponsible and immature” remarks made by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during his recent election rally in Kerala.
State BJP Chief Spokesperson and Media in-charge N. V. Subash, in a statement, said: “The Chief Minister’s comments, attempting to draw a frivolous comparison between Pinarayi Vijayan and Narendra Modi as ‘brothers’ and blaming them for the State’s challenges, are not only factually untenable but also unbecoming of a leader holding a constitutional office.”
He further stated that such remarks reflect a disturbing level of political immaturity and a disregard for the dignity of the office of a Chief Minister. “Public discourse, particularly during election campaigns, must be anchored in facts, accountability, and constructive criticism—not reduced to cheap rhetoric aimed at grabbing headlines,” he said.
Subash reiterated that the political landscape of India, including Kerala, has been significantly shaped by decades of governance involving both the Congress and Communist parties. “Attempts to conveniently shift blame while ignoring this historical reality only expose political opportunism,” he said, adding that the Chief Minister’s own political journey reflects inconsistency.
Referring to A. Revanth Reddy’s past, he noted that the latter began his political career in the Telugu Desam Party, founded by N. T. Rama Rao to challenge the Congress, and later switched to the same party. “Such shifts raise serious questions about ideological consistency,” he remarked.
He also alleged that the Congress party’s long-standing duplicity—maintaining tactical alliances with Left parties at the national level while posturing as adversaries in Kerala—stands exposed once again. “The so-called contest between the UDF and LDF has, over the years, done little to fundamentally alter the State’s developmental trajectory,” he pointed out.
Subash said that such opportunistic transitions, coupled with aggressive posturing, weaken public trust in leadership. “At a time when voters expect seriousness and solutions, such remarks trivialize critical governance issues and lower the standards of political debate,” he said.
He emphasized that leaders must rise above partisan theatrics and engage responsibly with the electorate, offering vision and accountability rather than divisive commentary. “There is an urgent need for those in positions of power to uphold the sanctity of democratic institutions and maintain the decorum befitting their office. Reckless statements may serve short-term political narratives, but they ultimately erode the credibility of public life and democratic discourse,” he added.
