The Supreme Court on Wednesday night upheld the decision of the state Governor Bhagat Singh Koshvari and refused to reverse his decision to convene special session of assembly tomorrow and conduct floor test to end the political crisis.
The governor has asked the Maharashtra Legislature Secretary to hold a floor test of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA government on Thursday at 11 am.
Immediately after the Governor’s demand to prove the majority, Shiv Sena chief whip Sunil Prabhu filed a plea in Supreme Court challenging Maharashtra Governor’s direction, claiming his request is illegal.
The Supreme Court has delivered its verdict around 9 pm on Wednesday after hearing arguments from both the aggrieved parties. In other words, it has allowed the floor test to be held while stating that the outcome will be subject to the July 11 hearing at the apex court.
