Government readying economic package, says FM

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to address a press conference at 3 pm on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, she had tweeted that the government is readying an economic package to help the country through the coronavirus lockdown.

Sitharaman is expected to address the media on statutory and regulatory compliance matters through video conference.

The Covid-19 death toll in India currently stands at 10 with nearly 500 confirmed cases of the infection. According to the data updated Tuesday morning, the total number of COVID-19 cases rose to 492, including 446 active cases.

The figure includes 41 foreign nationals and the nine deaths reported so far.

Finance Minister is likely to announce the extension of deadline filing of annual returns of companies to April 30.
