Development not at the cost of environment: CM

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said development is necessary but it should not be at the cost of environment.

“Development is necessary for the rapidly changing economy. But the government doesn t favour development at the cost of environment,” Das said after planting seedlings in the under construction legislative assembly premises.

“The government is committed to protect and promote environment. In the last two sessions, the government has done massive tree plantation and tried to connect common people with this campaign. Now the positive side of this drive is getting visible. The government believes in the promotion of culture around forests,” he said.

Das said that Sarana and Sanatan are nature worshippers and trees are the centre of their lifestyle.

People of the world are showing their concern for environment but Sarana and Sanatan people have protected the forests down the ages.

Asking workers to plant trees in the new legislative assembly, Das said the premises will remember them for years.

This will be the best legislative assembly favouring greenery, he added.

Das said that the 2019 budget should be introduced in the new legislative assembly. The contractor and workers will be awarded if the building is made before time. The government is rehabilitating the people who have given their land for this premise with the expenditure of Rs 245 crore.

Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon said that the earth should be green and clean.
