Hyderabad: The Membrane Team from the Hyderabad based CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology led by Dr. S. Sridhar, Senior Principal Scientist and Co-Chair from Process Engineering and Technology Department (PETT) has been bestowed with the 10th CIPET National Award for Technology Innovation 2021.
The team members include Dr. Nivedita Sahu, Principal Scientist, Mr. Dileep Kumar Fothedar, Senior Research Fellow, Mr. Badhrachalam Narkuti, Junior Research Fellow and Ms. Bhoga Arundhathi, Junior Research Fellow.
The award is given in recognition of their work on Reverse Osmosis & Electro-deionization (EDI) integrated process entitled “Indigenous and Inexpensive Polymer Membrane-Resin Integrated Device for Production of Type-I and Type-II Ultrapure Water” by the Department of Chemical & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
The award was conferred on February 23 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi by Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers D.V. Sadananda Gowda.
The Membrane Team of CSIR-IICT led by Dr. S. Sridhar has been actively involved since the past two and half decades in development of novel processes for defluoridation of ground water, purification of surface water, flood response, alkaline water, medical grade water, atmospheric water generator, treatment of industrial effluents, solvent recovery, gas mixture separation and more recently, design of multilayered masks and face shields for mitigation of Covid-19, to benefit Indian Industry and society.
