Cape Town: Keegan Petersen (48*) remained unbeaten after Jasprit Bumrah’s dismissal of Dean Elgar (30) marked the end of Day 3 in the third and final Test of the series in Cape Town.

After India set a 212-run target for the Proteas to win, Mohammed Shami struck early with the wicket of Aiden Markram (16) but Petersen and Elgar put on a brilliant stand to take the momentum away from Indians.

Further, a controversial overturned LBW decision in favour of Indians added to the visitors’ woes as tempers flied on the field, with the Proteas batters taking advantage of the lapse of concentration in the opposition.

SA ended the day on 101/2.
