Hyderabad: Hitting back at Chandrababu Naidu for his incoherent remarks on the repolling in five booths of Chandragiri in Chittoor district, YSR Congress has said that the ruling party has been resorting to unfair practices and did not allow dalits to cast their votes in those places.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said, ‘our Chandragiri candidate had complained about the irregularities in seven polling booths and wrote a detailed note backing by proper evidence to the Election Commission which has taken a decision to hold repolling in five centres on May 19 during the last phase of polling.
Chandrababu finding fault with Election Commission for the decision shows that his balance of reasoning has skipped as he did not comment on the repolling which was announced after the April 11 elections. He has no faith in parliamentary democracy and has been finding fault with Election Commission, EVMs and other institutions.
During 2014 elections in the five centres where repolling was ordered now, TDP accounted for all the votes polled leaving single digit votes to YSRCP. This could happen only after TDP deprived the dalits of their voting rights and not allowing them to exercise their franchise. The TDP cadre going in circles to complete the voting process to get such large number of votes, he said.
In the five polling booths, during 2014 YSRCP secured only single digit votes due to rigging and this time around as our agents were alert and could gather evidence to prove the unfair methods of TDP, EC was convinced and has ordered for the repoll and Chandrababu Naidu making a big hue and cry of its makes no sense other than accepting that they have resorted to unfair practices in the elections.
Chandrababu Naidu has left his home constituency of Chandragiri to Kuppam and the caste politics have been flared up during TDP term by stalling the dalits from voting, he said.
