Hyderabad:

Accepting the challenge thrown at by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao with regard to early polls, the TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy and AICC state affairs in-charge RC Khuntia dared him (Chief Minister) to immediately dissolve the Assembly in order to set the stage for the conduct of Assembly polls.

“It’s strange that the Chief Minister is challenging opposition parties for early polls through media. Instead, KCR should meet the Governor immediately recommending dissolution of Assembly paving the way for early elections. The Congress is fully prepared to face elections whenever they are held — whether in December 2018, or May 2019, or even the very same day for that matter. The sooner the better. People of Telangana are waiting to throw out KCR and his government as soon as possible,” Uttam commented.

Addressing the media soon after TPCC extended executive meeting at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, Uttam expressed regret over the former minister Danam Nagender leaving the Congress. He said Congress is the only party that ensures social justice and Nagender got umpteen opportunities and top positions, both in the party and government.

Uttam informed that three new AICC secretaries, appointed by the Congress high command, had been assigned various responsibilities. Each of them will take care of organisational and other related activities in the assigned Lok Sabha constituencies and Assembly segments.

Each AICC secretary, on an average, will handle about 40 Assembly segments which will also have one TPCC secretary as coordinator. Earlier, Khuntia introduced the newly appointed AICC secretaries to the media. He said several issues pertaining to the organisation were discussed during the TPCC’s extended meeting. He said it was decided to complete the constitution of committees from booth to state levels at the earliest.
