Bihar BJP leader Manoj Baitha booked for hit-and-run case surrenders

Manoj Baitha,  Sitamarhi BJP leader, who was accused of mowing down nine children in  Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district has surrendered before the police on Wednesday. The accused has been admitted at Patna Medical College for the treatment of injuries suffered during the accident.

However, Baitha denied that he was driving the vehicle when the accident happened.

As many as nine schoolchildren aged between nine and eleven were crushed to death by a speeding Bolero car in Muzaffarpur while crossing a road near their school on last Saturday.

Another 20, including ten schoolchildren, were left injured in the incident that occurred on National Highway 77 at Ahiyapur-Jhapaha under Minapur police station area, about ten km off the district headquarters.

Baitha was suspended from the primary membership of BJP for a period of six years yesterday.

The police have registered an FIR against Baitha on the complaint of a local who lost his granddaughter in the incident.
